Mixed Metaphores (A.k.a. I put my foot in my mouth and jumped off the deep end), can be a nuisance. Unavoidable in everyday life, disgustingly common in amateur fiction, the funny pictures they cause can be forgiven the average man. But the writers of Time magazine? These people should know better... unless they were going for humour...
