Uni and I have decided to start a new feature on Life in the Faroes (Uni's blog, which I help him with). It is called Question Time with Miranda, and it is a series of interviews between the two of us, where I pretend to not know anything about the Faroes and he pretends to know everything (thanks, Wikipedia!). We are going to start off really basic, like I will think the Faroe Islands are in Egypt, and work our way up to more specific topics such as houses in the Faroe Islands, or traditional music, or whatever, really.

Right now we are working on making an icon for the feature, and on the translation to Faroese.

Overpowering Heat
"The heat had become overpowering... Old men could not remember any heat to match this, and the grass curled up like wood shavings on the sod roofs while the tarred walls wept black tears, the windows all stood gaping, and oldsters and sick people that hadn't been seen for years came out into the daylight with squinting eyes and with strangely distant smiles.
It was not a pleasant heat. The word went round that one could get sunstroke from it. Many therefore cautiously stayed in the shade, but even here the heat was persistent. The sweat poured forth as soon as one undertook the slightest thing, and if one sat still, one became sleepy and fell into an unhealthy doze...
It was boiling hot in the sun, and the big thermometer in the yard of the Rømerske Handel showed 65°F."

Life in the Faroes
I realized that I haven't yet mentioned my other blog, Life in the Faroes. I am the secondary writer/translator of this blog, which is primarily written by my friend Uni. Uni is from the Faroe Islands and he is the one who helps me with Faroese when I have time to study it! :D (Wish I had more, I love the language and Uni is so nice and helpful!)
Anyway, we started writing this blog together because we realized that, despite recent increases, the internet isn't exactly saturated with information about the Faroes, especially daily life there... and there is a marked lack of bilingual English - Faroese resources online.
